I don’t know how you do it
Go and go and go
With
No
Days
Off
And a work ethic
That seems
At best
Unsustainable
If that’s the level
Then who can keep it up
And so many of you
(Individually, anyway)
(Statistically, few)
Still
Is this the competition
Or just the cohort
And is there enough pie to go around
(For what it’s worth, I doubt it)
Maybe this is hunger
The way I felt, starting out
Even then
Was I tireless?
Fearless?
Lucky?
No and no
And yes
The hustle is real
And the secret is
Hard work
And luck
In that order
We all have an engine
To do the work
But what does that engine run on
I’ll take a cup of that
