They painted the barren walls
a paler shade of beige
to match the staging furniture
Did you know
that is a thing?
Make a coloring book
for home
Paint by the numbers
Stay inside the lines
Unique as everyone else
Blank pages are scary
I knew
when I patched the hole
where the valance hung
I saw the old paint
It was yellow
It was bright yellow
We chose our shade of beige
for the next forty years
It’s blue
It’s light blue
