Hurry, scurry
Little ant
Wash your face with gentle soap
Brush your mandibles
And floss
Hurry, scurry
Little ant
Grab a protein bar
That your nutritionist recommended
Fill your Nalgene
With cold water from the tap
Hurry, scurry
Little ant
Don’t forget your laptop charger
As you get into the car
It’s an office day today
And you never know if the meeting room
Will have the right cables
Hurry, scurry
Little ant
Those crumbs won’t move themselves
And the spreadsheet has to be updated
With the latest status
So the hive can meet quota
And hopefully get a bonus
There are so many crumbs
Big and small
But they all need to be moved
And tunnels need to be dug
And reinforced
It takes a lot of little work
Done by little workers
To make the hive go ‘round
And all the hives across the world
A society of ants
Moving, moving, always moving
It’s not so bad
You have a hive
You’re strong and all your legs work
There are other ants who would care
If you got squished, or went out one day
And never came back
Ants who would miss you
Ants who would be sad
Not every ant has that
Hurry, scurry
Little ant
Home from work
Quickly, but carefully
Your family is waiting
Eat and laugh and rest with them
The crumbs will be there tomorrow
